B&KTP Blog Hop Butterfly Blue Thank You

 Howdy all,

Welcome to my Tuesday Talk blog post as part of Bruno and Kylie Bertucci's Demonstrator Training Program Blog Hop.

As you may have notice the theme for these Blog Hops is Thank You, and most in the Blog Hops use their Thank You cards to thank their customers for purchases. What a sweet idea that is, showing our appreciation to our customers for supporting our little businesses with a handmade card. Isn't that really so much of what we are really about, actually making and giving our cards to people as beautiful, meaningful or fun messages. So I thought why not give it a try, for any purchases made with me From 8th February to 8th March 2021 I will send one of these Butterfly Blue Thank You cards.

This card is made using DSP pattern paper and stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration promotion that were earned for FREE. How cool is that.

In true Kerrin style I went straight to the back of the Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper to see what hidden treasure I could find. Always, I mean always check out the backs of DSP, they are so under rated and such great designs and versatility often is hiding there. After my recent string of working with pinks, the heavy navy drew me in and the cute white flowers were just soft enough to work for the design I had in mind.

This design I had bookmarked some time ago, just waiting until I found the right elements to bring it to life. The downward flags and circular center piece. The circular spots sheet of the Paper Blooms Paper was perfect for the centerpiece and I knew this was the right design and elements to make it all work.

I was challenged by my fellow Team Shiny members to use the A Touch of Ink stamp set, it's such a gorgeous set and much bigger than I had expected. It's main features are a little bird and this butterfly. Since I am still waiting for my Butterfly Boutique Collection to come in I thought I'd warm up with this one.

I decided to make the butterfly 3D and embossed to bring out the details. I stamped out the butterfly on the Seaside Spray spot and on Seaside Spray cardstock. I stamped in Night of Navy and embossed with clear ink. Tip: ink stamp with Versa Mark, then straight to colour ink Night of Navy Ink, then stamp on cardstock, then emboss with clear ink per normal. I then used my blending brush with a little Night of Navy to add a touch more colour to the butterfly wings. I fussy-cut the cardstock butterfly, giving it a bend and glued it to the spot butterfly only by the butterfly body.

Again I thought I'd level up my cards with a coloured cardstock base and a decorated inside panel. I really love how this inside panel turned out bring the elements from the front in.

GDP Colour Challenge - Playgroup Scrapbook #GDP277

 Howdy all,

Welcome to my Sunday Session blog post as part of Global Design Project #GDP277 Blog Hop.

The Global Design Project has a range of different challenges from colours to sketches every week, but the one I look forward to the most is the colour challenge. The provide the selected colours and we can only use those plus Basic Black, Basic White, Vanilla and Crumb Cake.

Since #GDP277 was the pinks which always pose a challenge for me I thought maybe I would try a scrapbooking Memories & More page for my daughter. I loved this photo for it as it not only had the pinks in her dress but the carpet reminded me of the Sahara Sand colour.

The Love You Always Suite was so perfect as it matches the colour challenge colours and such beautiful specialty paper with foils and foil embossing. All the hard work of coordinating done for me, score!

To create the title I used a Blending Brush to add the Blushing Bride and Rococo Rose to the cardstock in an ombre style. Then added foam sheets to the back and die cut with the Playful Alphabet Dies. Adding the foam before die cutting makes your own perfect matching alpha foam stickers, no need to worry about having enough letters in a pack. I also used used the Blending Brush softening the edge of the page with the pinks. My tips are to hold the brush itself rather than the handle, start off the paper and gently move onto it and use the thick basic white cardstock for the best results. When die cutting with foam, run it through a few times.

The key to elements of a scrapbooking page are photo, title, mats & borders and journaling - minimum of the who, what, when, where. Journaling is definitely a sore point for me, a real struggle but I loved having a play with how I could split the basic journaling details all over the page.

I even used the Scripty 3D Embossing folder on the Blushing Bride cardstock to add yet more texture.

Embellishments are key to this page that's full of depth, texture and colour. I chose two spots to add heavy embellishments with lots of die cuts, varying paper types and colours. It was fun using a range of different dies to make my own embellishments. Of course it was all finished off with the Blushing Bride Metallic Ribbon and Rococo Rose pearls from the Pastel Pearls.

If this page looks a bit over the top for you, here is another page from her book with some of the same papers that is beautiful but simple for a beginner.
